Meals on Wheels Program

Our Meals on Wheels Program provides hot, nutritious meals daily, Monday through Friday, for over 700 homebound seniors. Our food is prepared in accordance with accepted USDA nutritional guidelines and represents at least 1/3 of the recommended daily allowance of needed nutrition. Meals are delivered on eight staff routes and ten volunteer routes. We deliver more than food. Our staff drivers and over 135 volunteers deliver smiles, caring, encouragement, dignity and love. The majority of our clients are over sixty and their income falls below the poverty level. Referrals to our Agency for services come from a variety of sources; i.e., family members, physicians, hospital discharge planners and our sister aging agencies. Our social workers perform initial assessments in the potential client’s homes to determine if they qualify for our programs. Reassessments are done every six months to determine continuing needs. Unfortunately, we are not able to meet all the present needs of our homebound senior community; however, over the years our goal is to meet the most critically needy. Our Meals on Wheels Program serves our clients for a fraction of the cost of institutional care while at the same time promoting independence and security. Our dynamic team of dedicated staff members and volunteers strive to make a positive impact on the lives of our clients.

Homemaker Program

Our Homemaker Program provides basic housekeeping assistance for a few of our Meals on Wheels recipients. Due to limited funding, this program is reserved for our clients demonstrating the greatest need. Our homemakers visit the clients and do weekly chores such as changing linens, cleaning the bathroom, dusting, mopping or any other activity that the client needs. We are also able to assist with paying bills, scheduling doctor’s appointments or running needed errands. Our homemakers make a positive difference in the lives of our clients receiving this service.

Private Pay Program

Our Private Pay Program is available for clients or family members of clients who are able to pay for the Meals on Wheels Program. We also accept sponsorships from churches or civic clubs who can pay for an individual to receive meals. If a client or a member of their family is able to pay for the Meals on Wheels Program, presently $100.00 a month, the individual can begin receiving meals soon after applying if we are able to accommodate the client on an existing delivery route.
